Policy For Using Copyrighted Material

Purpose of This Policy

The mission of Ambassadors of Reconciliation is equipping and assisting Christians for living, proclaiming, and cultivating lifestyles of reconciliation. We do this, in part, through teaching resources and live seminars. By God's grace, we receive many inquiries from people who desire to teach and use our materials in various ways. This policy sets forth the manner in which people who are not on the Ambassadors of Reconciliation staff may teach, adapt, and/or use copyrighted Ambassadors of Reconciliation materials or excerpts from them and integrate Ambassadors of Reconciliation concepts into other available material.

Through this policy:

  • We are seeking to serve the Lord and His church by equipping and assisting Christians to live, proclaim, and cultivate lifestyles of reconciliation. By extending permission to others to teach and use our materials, we hope many people whom our staff could not reach will learn and implement biblical concepts.

  • We intend that the latest versions of our materials be taught by godly people under the authority of their local churches, denominations, and/or ministries.

  • We desire to wisely steward the resources that God has entrusted to us. Copyright law requires us to take specific steps to protect our copyrights to avoid losing the rights to using our own material.

Integration of Ambassadors of Reconciliation Concepts into Other Materials

Ambassadors of Reconciliation encourages others to draw freely on the concepts that we have developed to communicate biblical peacemaking.

  • Quotations of up to 1000 words from our work may be used for ministry purposes without written permission. (By "ministry purposes," we mean that an excerpt will be used within a church, ministry, school, Bible study, etc., and will not be for resale, i.e., in published form.) We ask that you give proper attribution to the source of the quotation by listing the title, author, publication information, and our ministry name and web site. For example:

Reprinted or adapted from “Go and Be Reconciled: What Does This Mean?” (Ambassadors of Reconciliation, 2016). www.aorHope.org.

  • Quotations of less than 200 words from our work may be used for non-ministry purposes without written permission. We ask only that you give proper attribution to the source of the quotation by listing the title, author, publication information, and our ministry name and web site.

  • Quotations of more than 1000 words for ministry purposes or more than 200 words for resale require written permission. Please contact Ambassadors of Reconciliation to request permission (mail@aorhope.org).

Teaching Bible Studies, Devotions, and Videos without a Fee

We have developed Bible studies, devotions, and videos on various aspects of biblical conflict resolution. These resources are currently available from our bookstore.

You are welcome to use any of our Bible studies, devotions, and videos for teaching basic biblical peacemaking provided you adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Teach without charge within your own local church, denomination, or ministry. You are encouraged to purchase our materials and use them to teach internal groups (within your church, ministry or denominational group), without charging a fee for the presentation.

  2. You may teach any of our Bible study material without any instructor qualifications. There are no other instructor qualifications required for any of these types of free "in-house" training in churches, Sunday school classes, small group Bible studies, sermons, and staff workshops.

  3. You may recover actual expenses for materials purchased from Ambassadors of Reconciliation.

Teaching Bible Studies or Seminars for a Fee

  1. Teaching for a Fee. When teaching a Bible study or seminar for a fee, the presenter is utilizing copyrighted material and must first obtain a license from Ambassadors of Reconciliation. Licenses may be granted to those who receive training for such presentations and who agree to certain terms of the license.

  2. Disclosure. Orally report in the introduction of the presentation that you are not employed or contracted by Ambassadors of Reconciliation but are teaching this material in accord with the policy for teaching copyrighted materials by Ambassadors of Reconciliation. In addition, a written statement should be distributed with the presentation guides or studies that states: "The person presenting this seminar is not employed or contracted by Ambassadors of Reconciliation but is teaching this material in accord with the policy for teaching copyrighted materials by Ambassadors of Reconciliation."
