Daily Confession
Conflict Resolution vs Reconciliation - Lesson 3 - Receive God's Forgiveness, Questions 23, p. 47

For the child of God, daily contrition is an essential practice in the journey of faith. Contrition, or genuine sorrow for one's sins, reflects a heart that is aligned with the will of God and acknowledges the need for His forgiveness. The Bible instructs us to live a life of repentance and humility, continually seeking forgiveness and renewal from our Heavenly Father.
One of the foundational reasons for daily contrition is the recognition of our fallen nature. As humans, we are inherently sinful and prone to wander from God's path. Romans 3:23 reminds us, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." This verse highlights the universality of sin and the need for every believer to confess their sins regularly - daily.
Daily contrition keeps our relationship with God intimate and honest. By confessing our sins and seeking His forgiveness, we maintain a close and transparent relationship with our Creator. Psalm 51:17 states, "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise." This verse underscores the importance of a humble heart that seeks God's mercy.
Moreover, as we confess daily, we have the gospel comfort found in 1 John 1:7b (ESV): "the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin." This promise assures us that through Jesus' sacrifice, our sins are washed away, and we are made new. It is a profound reminder of God's unwavering love and the continual cleansing that is available to us.
Daily contrition and confession is necessary for the child of God as it fosters humility, maintains an honest relationship with God, and brings the comforting assurance of His forgiveness and cleansing through Jesus Christ. Embracing this practice allows believers to walk in the light, reflecting the transformative power of the gospel in their lives.
