What is the difference between conflict resolution and reconciliation?
Conflict Resolution vs Reconciliation - Lesson 1 - Remember Whose You Are, Question 16, p. 17

Life is a journey marked by various conflicts and challenges. However, the most serious conflict I face is not with another person, not with society, but with my own sinfulness. Reverence to the scriptures, particularly Isaiah 59:2, reveals the gravity of this inner turmoil: "But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear."
This separation caused by sin is echoed in Romans 3:10-12, where the Apostle Paul emphasizes the universality of human sinfulness: "As it is written: 'None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.'" These verses highlight the pervasive nature of sin and how it alienates us from the divine presence of God.
The struggle against sin is arduous and often feels insurmountable, as it is deeply ingrained in our nature. This conflict affects every aspect of our lives, tainting our thoughts, actions, and relationships. The weight of guilt and the fear of God's judgment can be overwhelming, leading to a sense of despair and hopelessness.
Yet, in the midst of our myriad conflicts, the gospel offers a beacon of hope and assurance. 2 Corinthians 5:18 resonates with a promise of relief and restoration: "All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation." This statement from Paul reminds us that despite our sinfulness, we are not abandoned. Through Christ’s sacrificial love and grace, we are offered forgiveness and a renewed connection - reconciled - with God.
Recognizing our most serious conflict as the battle with our own sinfulness is crucial. It is through this acknowledgment and turning to Christ for redemption that we find true peace and reconciliation with God. Let us accept His invitation and rest in the assurance of His everlasting grace.
