Understanding Our True Nature Through Scripture

Conflict Resolution vs Reconciliation - Lesson 1 - Remember Whose You Are - Question 2, p. 14

As a follower of Christ, discovering and understanding our identity in Christ is a foundational aspect of our faith journey. It shapes not only how we view ourselves but also how we respond to the world around us, including conflicts.

1 John 1:7 states: “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” This verse emphasizes our fellowship with God and fellow believers, highlighting the transformative power of Jesus' sacrifice. Being in Christ means that we are cleansed from sin and are called to walk in the light—living lives marked by love, purity, and unity.

Additionally, 1 Peter 1:18-19 reminds us of the incredible value of this redemption: “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” This passage underscores the pricelessness of our redemption and the profound love God has for us. We are redeemed not by earthly wealth but by the precious blood of Christ, which sets us apart as cherished and valuable in God's eyes.

Knowing who we are in Christ empowers us to respond to conflicts in a profoundly different manner. Instead of reacting with anger, fear, or insecurity, we can approach conflicts with grace, understanding, and peace. Our identity in Christ calls us to be peacemakers, reflecting His love and forgiveness even when faced with adversity. We are reminded to see the divine worth in ourselves and others, fostering reconciliation and unity rather than division.

Recognizing our identity in Christ as redeemed, valued, and called to walk in the light, transforms our approach to conflicts. It enables us to embody the principles of love and peace, ultimately bringing us closer to the heart of God and fostering harmonious relationships with those around us.

These posts are well-written, succinct and to the point. I haven't seen the whole program yet but our identity in Christ is a daily fight between the old man and the new man. This is where the theological rubber hits the daily road, and I don't hear much practical application of how to maintain a successful walk with Christ in the face of a torrent of temptations all designed to create the illusion that the "old man" is still very much alive when in fact he is already crucified with Christ. Not only is precise theological application necessary but also the entire psychological aspect of how our minds are actually renewed in Christ Jesus.
